Heidi Sanborn represents SMUD District Ward 7, including Antelope, Arden Arcade, Carmichael, Foothill Farms, and North Highlands. Her first term on the SMUD Board began in January 2019.

For more than 20 years, Heidi has advanced smart utility policy, renewable energy solutions, and good governance through leadership in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Her work has focused on reducing waste, protecting ratepayers, and investing in sustainable energy and resource management solutions. Earlier in her career, Heidi worked in the private sector as a consultant and served as a government administration advisor to the Chair of CalRecycle.

Heidi served for 12 years as the founding Director of the California Product Stewardship Council and is currently the Founder and Executive Director/CEO of the National Stewardship Action Council. Through both organizations, she has championed innovative producer-pays recycling and waste reduction programs that support a responsible circular economy while helping save taxpayers’ money.
